In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for various construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to analyse project specifications, material costs, and labor requirements.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced estimator to be part of a dynamic team working on residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects across New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse blueprints, specifications, and project plans to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs required for each project.
• Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
• Identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities within project budgets.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
• Prepare and present detailed cost reports and bid proposals.
• Monitor and update cost databases, pricing trends, and industry standards.
• Assist in contract negotiations and ensure estimates comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably in New Zealand.

Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.

Proficiency in estimating software such as CostX, Cubit, or BuildSoft.

Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications.

Strong negotiation and communication skills.

High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Knowledge of New Zealand building regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.
