MORE ABOUT THIS ROLE

To become a Planner/Scheduler within the Civil Infrastructure industry, most New Zealand employers expect candidates to hold a Bachelor or Master of Planning, a Bachelor or Master of Resource and Environmental Planning or a Master of Environmental Policy.


Typical Responsibilities

  • Planning buildings, streets, car parks, recreational parks, reserves, facilities and utilities
  • Analysing the development of residential, environmental and commercial areas
  • Researching and reporting the effects of proposed developments, particularly on the environment
  • Collecting and analysing social, environmental and economic data
  • Presenting reports to Government, local councils, companies and clients



Progression

Planners/Schedulers can progress their careers by moving into more specialist or senior-level roles within the Civil Infrastructure or Planning and Surveying industries, such as specialising in Town, Urban or Recreational Planning, or even Policy Administration.
