Drill and Blast Operators are responsible for preparing and executing controlled explosions to break up rock for mineral extraction. They operate drilling rigs, load explosives, and follow strict safety protocols to ensure precise blasting operations. Their role requires adherence to environmental and safety regulations while optimising fragmentation for efficient ore recovery.

Required Skills:

A Certificate in Drilling Operations or equivalent is preferred, along with relevant experience in open-cut or underground mining. Operators must hold a valid shotfirer’s license and have a deep understanding of blast planning, explosives handling, and mining safety standards. Strong attention to detail, physical fitness, and the ability to work under extreme conditions are essential.
