Typical Responsibilities


  • Deciding production goals and timetables
  • Setting and reporting production budgets
  • Identifying what materials, supplies, machinery and equipment are needed to meet production goals
  • Managing suppliers and vendors
  • Evaluating production processes and creating reports
  • Maintaining, testing, improving and deciding when to repair or replace equipment and machinery
  • Developing new production processes
  • Developing, training and assisting factory staff
  • Meeting and liaising with clients and customers
  • Overseeing factory safety standards and risks


Progression

Production Managers may choose to take up a similar position in another industry or specialise further within Production Management, such as Manufacturing Technology, Quality Control or Health & Safety.
