As an Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and certifying electrical installations to ensure they comply with New Zealand's electrical safety regulations. You will work closely with electricians, contractors, and regulatory bodies to maintain high safety and quality standards across various projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of new and existing electrical installations to ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and other relevant standards.
- Issue Certificates of Compliance (CoCs) and Electrical Safety Certificates (ESCs).
- Identify and report electrical hazards, non-compliance issues, and necessary corrective actions.
- Work with electricians, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure all electrical work meets legal and safety requirements.
- Perform testing and fault-finding on electrical systems using specialized tools and equipment.
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and technological advancements in electrical safety.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and compliance reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- New Zealand Electrical Inspector License (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Relevant electrical trade qualification (e.g., NZ Electrical Registration or equivalent).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical installation, inspection, or compliance roles.
- Strong knowledge of NZ electrical codes and regulations (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3760, and AS/NZS 3012).
- Experience using electrical testing equipment such as insulation testers, multimeters, and loop impedance testers.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with contractors, electricians, and government bodies.
- A valid New Zealand driver’s license (preferred).
