To secure a job as an Electrical Engineer in the Rail and Transportation industry, New Zealand employers expect you to hold a four-year Bachelor of Engineering or three-year Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree to prove competency.

Whilst these are both fantastic career paths, other rewarding options for engineers include becoming consultants at engineering consultation firms and moving into other areas of engineering, such as Environmental, Mechanical or Civil.
