There are no educational entry requirements to secure a job as a Customer Service Representative as many New Zealand organisations will provide on-the-job training to new staff.


The personal requirements for a Customer Service Representative can include the following:

Typical Responsibilities


  • Providing information, advice or appointments to customers and resolving complaints
  • Forwarding enquiries to relevant departments
  • Ringing customers to promote and sell products and services
  • Conducting customer engagement and satisfaction surveys, and market research


Progression

The career progression opportunities for Customer Service Representative can be plentiful. With enough training, representatives can move towards Team Leader and Training roles. Alternatively, due to the exposure Customer Service Representatives can gain over a whole organisation, they can often find opportunities to move to other departments and areas, such as Finance or HR.
